Psychological Services
The Appalachian State University Psychology Clinic provides affordable, evidence-based psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, App State students, and community members throughout Western North Carolina. Our services are delivered by clinicians-in-training under the supervision of licensed psychologists and are designed to support a wide range of assessment and mental health needs.

Assessment Services
Comprehensive psychological evaluations can help identify strengths, clarify diagnoses, and provide recommendations for treatment, educational planning, and personal growth.
Our assessment services include evaluations for:
- ADHD
- Learning disabilities
- Intellectual and cognitive functioning
- Academic achievement
- Memory concerns
- Personality and psychosocial functioning
- Psychoeducational needs

Treatment Services
We provide evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing emotional, behavioral, academic, and interpersonal concerns.
Treatment services may address:
- Anxiety and worry
- Depression
- Stress
- Panic attacks
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Social and performance anxiety
- Relationship difficulties
- Behavioral and family concerns
Services include individual therapy, group therapy, and telehealth treatment options. Our clinic emphasizes proven treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients build practical skills and achieve meaningful change.
School Counseling
The App State Psychology Clinic offers limited school-based counseling services in select local schools. These services support students experiencing challenges such as anxiety, stress, coping difficulties, social concerns, school anxiety, and other emotional or behavioral needs.
Telehealth Therapy
Therapy services are available through telehealth appointments (via Zoom) for individuals located in North Carolina. Telehealth offers a convenient way to access care while maintaining the same commitment to evidence-based treatment and clinical supervision. Clients participating in telehealth should have a computer/tablet/smartphone, webcam/built-in camera, microphone, stable internet connection, and private space for appointments. Initiating one of our services starts with a brief phone screening conducted by a clinic staff member. This conversation helps determine your needs and whether our services are a good fit.
